Take a peek inside my yoga world. Living as a the mom-next-door and meshing the mystical with the mundane.

Check out the blog site, or better yet, check out a class so we can bliss out together… the schedule is posted!

In 2003, I completed Clayton Horton’s Greenpath Yoga Teacher Training Program, learning the technicalities of the Ashtanga style of yoga. Since the training, it seems that all of my spare resources have gone back into studying yoga through workshops, intensives and literature. I’ve had the pleasure of studying with Rusty Wells and Laura Camp, who have taught me the joy of practicing yoga with an open and loving heart. I’ve also found myself head over heels in love with the study of Buddhism and have found it to be the perfect complement to my yoga practice.

I was surprised and delighted to discover that in addition to healing my aching body after years of over-training in the fitness world, yoga also released me from years of chronic depression. I feel compelled to share my love of this healing practice with others and help bring the movement of yoga to my own community. I’m amazed and honored to be involved as a co-owner/director of Cosmic Dog Yoga in Livermore, Ca.

I believe that spirituality is not something to be taken on as a chore. The practice of yoga is liberating, playful, and joyful! When coming to my class, expect a warm room, fun music and a light-hearted atmosphere. We will sweat and play with our limitations through a combination of fluid vinyasa mixed with longer holds. We always sing, and on a good day we even sing in tune! Be prepared to drop your heaviness on the mat and return home feeling centered and blissed-out.

Join me in my quest as a seeker in suburbia. A bhakti, a wife, a mom of three; mixing the mystical with the mundane in everyday life.

What her students are saying:

“A class with Laurie is like a wonderful study in contrasts. You’ll get caught up in Laurie’s sweet, sing-song voice, her smile and her playful demeanor. And then, all of a sudden, you’ll realize that you are exercising intensely and quickly building muscle. Laurie is always encouraging and hands-on, and really committed to seeing us work up to our potential while finding great joy in the practice. She is advanced in her own technique and knowledge, but also thoughtful in providing variations to those of us less seasoned in the art of yoga. I love Laurie’s Flow class and I consider it the perfect kick start to my week.”

“I feel that if I survive Laurie’s Power Yoga class, the rest of my week is a breeze. I take Iyengar Yoga too, but feel that with the intense sweaty

workout in her Power Yoga class that my joints have been quickly responding and opening along with my inner strength improving. In fact after about four classes, I stopped going to the chiropractor!”

“I look forward to Laurie’s yoga class all week. I only wish I could go more often. Laurie’s classes are fun, rejuvenating, cleansing, and she makes you sweat. I have learned so much from Laurie and feel very fortunate to have found such a great teacher.”

I have been enjoying Laurie’s power yoga class for about five years. Laurie is always cheerful and smiling and at the same time encouraging the class to strive for a bit more. My flexibility, endurance, strength, balance and focus have all been improved and challenged in ways aerobics classes or weight training cannot attain. Her class is not a gentle workout. You will sweat as you improve. You will learn proper form and control. You will come back for more and enjoy the struggle to move those joints where they have never gone before.

“Laurie was my first yoga teacher (four years ago), and I’ve taken her classes regularly ever since. Her classes are difficult, but she has the ability to infuse fun into the workout every time. I don’t make it through her classes without sweating or smiling.”

“Laurie’s power yoga classes are tough, strengthening classes! Her voice is clear and cheerful and very encouraging – especially during all those push-ups and deep lunges! Also, she gives lots of suggestions for pose modifications if you don’t want to go all out.”

“Power Yoga with Laurie is an excellent workout. She is an awesome teacher! I don’t sweat easy, but in Laurie’s class…..I DO! Excellent all the way around.”

“I have taken Laurie’s Monday class at 5:30 and it is fantastic!” The class is a good blend of core workout, stretches and leg and arm exercises. This is a very well rounded class. She plays great music making the class a little more fun and upbeat than a traditional yoga class. I am definitely sore the next day after taking her class. During the class you feel that you get a great workout yet you feel very relaxed after the class. It makes you feel wonderful! If you are thinking about taking this class I definitely recommend that you go for it!”

Thank you so much for journalling what I feel are often my own worries! It’s feels good not to be the only one out there wrestling with the mystical or the mundane.
